Our Mission

To promote the social, cultural and economic interest of the Ngati Maniapoto people.

To assist in the upgrading, betterment and development of the Ngati Maniapoto Marae that are members of the Trust, including provision of facilities of such Marae.

To develop the social, recreational, cultural, economic and educational welfare of the people of those Ngati Maniapoto Marae, who are members of the Trust, in any manner whatsoever.

Trust Profile

Status:  Charitable Trust, registered 17 November 1981, Incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957.

The Ngati Maniapoto Marae Pact Trust (Incorporated) is a co-operative venture of 23 affiliated Marae in the Ngati Maniapoto rohe.  Initially conceived in 1980 as a fundraising co-operative, the Trust has undertaken additional responsibilities for the planning, co-ordination and best utilisation of the communal resources of the Tribe.

To achieve our goals we have entered into several joint ventures with local, and regional government, other businesses and community groups.

Note from General Manager

The Trust is a fine example of how co-operation from a wide and diverse range of people have managed to move forward with a single mindedness that has been focused on a vision to provide opportunity and development for Ngati Maniapoto.

So often all of the good intentions to provide stability, sustainability and continuous growth and improvement through co-operative ventures become entangled in issues contrary to, or destructive to the primary goal; and more relevant to individual needs and wants.  I am pleased to say, the Trust has managed its operations in such a way that has enabled us to avoid these difficulties and retain our long term objectives without disadvantaging any of our members.

Leadership within the Trust's governance and executive structure has been the major contributing factor in the successful growth and development of the concept of providing an iwi body that genuinely can provide security of culture perspective's for Maniapoto Maori along with creating opportunities for social, educational, economic and recreational gain.

The Trust will continue to strive to achieve a self sustaining organisation by adopting approaches that generate success and further enhance the Trust's performance as a key contributor in Maori interdependence both socially and economically in New Zealand.
