Residential Care

The Maniapoto Community Services has establish safe residential care homes in Maniapoto that cater for Care and Protection clients, up to the age of 15 years, for both Maori and non-Maori ethnicity. The service is organised to meet the specific needs of the cultural groups it serves. The Ngati Maniapoto Community Social services has links with appropriate community groups to identify those needs. The residential facilities are used where a child or young person is considered to be in need of care or protection, the principle that, wherever practicable, the necessary assistance and support is provided to enable the child or young person to be cared for and protected within residential care. The Maniapoto Community Services will ensure that these services are monitored and ongoing.

The service currently accepts referrals from a wide range of community groups including Children and Young Persons and Their Families Service.
