Social WorkersA wide range of social services are provided to supplement the Government Agency provision of these services. A major role of our social workers is to provide an advocacy and advisory role for people using Government services. Community social services aims To adopt a co-ordinated approach and ensure that the delivery of social, welfare and health services are not denied to any person and are made easily accessible and user focused to assist in the re-education of the Maniapoto Iwi, encouraging them to becomes self-sufficient, self reliant and a provider of their own social, welfare and health services for their Iwi. To adopt a culturally sensitive and appropriate delivery of all services. To work toward and implement long term strategies for the prevention of social, welfare and health problems. Objectives To provide a service which targets the most at risk families and which actively encourages them to seek help, will greatly enhance opportunities to reduce the incidence of long term social and health problems and all forms of abuse in the community. To work in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner with families from a range of cultural backgrounds, acknowledging the Treaty of Waitangi and working within its framework. To interact in a supportive and professional manner with members of all agencies involved with the Welfare of children and whanau. To encourage and promote co-operation between organisations engaged in providing services for the benefit of children and young persons and their families and family groups.
