Youth Training

Contracted for 16 and 17 year olds

National Certificate in Farm Skills -- Level 2
Introductory farming programme run for one year, and providers training in many basic farm practices.  Is an ideal course for those wishing to start a career in farming and want a practical "hands on" approach.  On offer in Te Kuiti, Te Kuiti Districts, Taumarunui.  For more information see contact details below.

National Certificate in Employment Skills -- Level 1
This programme introduces young people to the skills they need to survive in a modern would and will provide the confidence and knowledge that is required when preparing for adult responsibilities.  Some of the areas participants will gain proficiency in are: personal well-being and fitness, career planning, job seeking skills, producing a curriculum vitae, operating a personal budget, obtaining a standard first aid certificate and drivers licence, protection against sexual harassment, protection of health and safety in the work place, responding to grief in others, manager anger and stress, respond legally to law enforcement, and the use of community services.  On offer in Te Kuiti and Taumarunui.  For more information see contact details below

New Horizons
This programme has been designed for 16 and 17 years, the recent school leaver, that does not yet know what career to pursue. It is about offering opportunities.   This programme provides an insight into a wide range of essential workplace skills which are continually being sought by employers for most industry and service sectors. As well as building vocational competencies and knowledge, learner's will be given opportunities for personal development through structured recreational activities. These include an Outdoor Wilderness Experience, a Marae Stay (Wananga) and a Coastal Experience. Workplace Training -- up to level 4
If you have a genuine interest in beginning a career in a trade or service industry, workplace training can get you started.  Workplace Training allows you to get on the job experience and learn many of the basic skills you will require before you gain full time employment.  Come and talk to our Workplace Training Co-ordinator and plan a training programme to fit your career options.  On offer in Te Kuiti and Taumarunui.  For more information see contact details below.

Contracted for 18 year olds and over

Ministry of Youth Affairs

Contracted for 16 - 25 year olds

Conservation Corps
A twenty week programme in conservation aimed at 16 to 25 year olds.   Introduces members to issues and needs for conservation in New Zealand.  Also includes personal growth projects in life skills, first aid, curriculum vitae and career planing projects.  On offer in Te Kuiti.  For more information see below.

In conjunction with local High Schools we run tailor made block programmes for students that are looking to develop a practical career option while still attending school.

Block Courses

Local business, contractors and self employed are catered for with block courses run in chainsaw safety, occupational health and safety, farm fencing, Te Reo, etc
