Personal Annual Contribution Target (PACT)Is one of the founding initiatives of the Ngati Maniapoto Marae Pact Trust (Inc) and is the collection point of donations from people for their nominated Marae. The Ngati Maniapoto Marae Pact Trust provide this to member marae and at the end of the financial year the member marae are given the option of accepting the donation or reinvesting it in a high interest bearing Trust Account. PACT ProjectThe Marae is the foundation of our Maori heritage. It follows then that a thriving Marae reflects a strong and united people. For this reason we have developed the PACT project. What is it?It is a project hat enables a person to donate money to nay of the Marae listed, by automatic payments and one off donations. What is it for?It is to help member marae who have joined the Project develop, improvement and keep such Marae in good repair. Who runs the projectIt is managed by the Ngati Maniapoto Marae Pact Trust which is made up of one representative from each member Marae. How much should I give?This is up to you. Only you can decide what you would like to contribute each year. The name PACT is made up from the following words: P...Personal If I want to give what do I do?First you apply to become a registered contributor. To do this file in the Application for Registration print a copy and post it). You will then be allocated a Personal Registration Number. No other person can have this number. All right? I am now registered. How do I make my payments.You make your payments by automatic payment. Upon completion of registration you are presented with a competed automatic payment form with bank account number, contributor registration code and contractor selected marae code. You then ensure that the amount you wish to donate is completed, the selected mare is correct, keep a copy for yourself and send the original to your Bank. If I want to give to more than one Marae what do I do?You need to fill in a separate automatic form for each marae because each has its own code number. Can I get a tax rebate on my contributionsYes. The Trust is recognised by Inland Revenue Department as a charitable organisation A contributor can claim a tax rebate of 50% of annual donations up to a limit of $350.00. For example if you play in $350.00 for the year you can claim a refund for half that amount $175.00. To get a rebate you must file a tax return. The Trust will issue a receipt to each contributor for funds donated up to 31 December each year. The receipt by be attached to your tax return for a rebate claim. Marae Savings Fund is a feature of the projectMember Marae have agreed that 20% of annual contributions to each Marae by put aside in a Marae Saving Fund which will be administered by the Trust. The fund will not be spend but as it grows it will enable the Trust to:
Note: When the objectives have been achieved each Marae will be paid its shore of the fund plus interest. The advantages of pooling our resources to help all marae and the people is obvious to all My marae is not listed. What do I do?If you see the benefits as the Trust does, get agreement of your Marae to join the project. All Maniapoto Marae are welcome and only requires a small once only registration fee of $30.00. When does my Marae get my contribution?The Trust's contribution accounts is balanced and audited at the end of each year (December). Payments will then be made tot he Marae Committee after the audit has been completed. We need your help?Ngati (the descendants of) Maniapoto are spread all over the country and beyond.
